Closing on complete with a WP site for a local tattoo artist (musician & super dad) Steve Hovey.

Steve needs a site to help market his tattoo work. He is a great client. He trusted me to just go for it: come up with something bright, bold, and eye-catching using his selection of flash, fine art, and tattoos. So instead of doing something safe, I went for it. We are both happy with the result.

Visit SteveHoveyInk.com… If you dare (evil laugh)

It was easy, though, for Steve to say: Do whatever you want, just make it look cool. And mean it. We were both graphic designers at the same firm & have worked together some since then. He knows my work. He knows that—as a designer—I’m experienced, creative, and understand how to apply marketing principles. I feel like his trust helped me do an inspired design that I’m quite fond of. Crazy purple skull with tentacles? I can get behind that!

Needless to say: fun project. A black background with tron-green & lava red isn’t appropriate for most sites. I don’t usually have to ask myself “should this be more metal?” Steve does have a partially complete, epic, armored Squizgaard (from Metalocalypse) inked on his forearm.

Fun aside, the project is to build a solid, Web 2.0, SEO optimized, functional, well branded site; fill it with content, and get Steve familiar with the WordPress “back end” so that he can add media, pages, posts, etc. as needed. Print collateral (a business card at least) is going to be part of the package as well. From picking the domain name through all the creative and technical aspects, this site is all me. Tiny Leviathan I am! If Steve wants to do social media marketing, WordPress sites go perfectly with Twitter & Facebook Page self-promotion. We will see… (evil laugh #2)

(Will Steve Hovey be sucked into the brave new world of Web 3.0? Fact: it is easy & can be fun. Matthew Haggett knows the hows & whys of the social internet. Get plugged in to the best social media networks with a solid foundation in how to use them when you get your WordPress site from Matthew! Do it… Now… Hypno beam… When you awaken, you will have an uncontrollable urge to buy a shockingly-affordable WordPress web site from Tiny Leviathan…)
